How we live Papamonat and paternity leave – a field report
You don’t become a dad every day, which is why I stayed at home for 4 weeks straight after the birth of my two children. Unfortunately, this is not a matter of course, but it should be. At the companies in the CONENGA Group fortunately, paternity leave and paternity leave are not, as is so often the case, unused legal rights on paper, but are actually taken up by employees and regarded as the norm by company management.
Benefits for the whole family
We fathers in particular need this time to get to know the newborn and get used to the change. Mothers already have a head start, as they are already familiar with the newborn from growing up in their own body.
With a first child, everything is new and unfamiliar. With a certain amount of uncertainty, you try to do the right thing and respond to everyone’s needs. It is all the more important for the new family if everyone can be together. When more children follow, there is already a certain amount of practice, but the number of children has increased.
After the birth, the mother should be given extra support. This means that everything that can be done for her should also be done by her partner during the daddy month. With my second child, I am currently experiencing that this can fill the whole day – when, in addition to the general to-dos, a toddler also wants to be played with.
Children grow and learn at a rapid pace
Baby time is not coming back. During daddy month, you can stop time for a bit, forget the daily grind and enjoy the moment. Even if the daddy month is not particularly attractive from a financial point of view (the legislator could make some improvements here), I am happy to be able to take advantage of this opportunity. I wish all readers the courage to take plenty of time with their children alongside their work.
Dad month tip from the new dad of two
Good preparation is necessary for this exercise to succeed: All projects and appointments should be taken over by colleagues for this time and appropriate handovers should be made and all errands for the newborn should be completed before the birth if possible.
Paternity leave
Consistently thinking ahead, the father must not be absent during parental leave. So I recommend being generous here and taking on several months. In this way, you can achieve a good balance of childcare between the parents and it will also be easier for fathers to take on responsibility afterwards.
